A new model of the Luminor Submersible is launched by Officine Panerai, the Luminor Submersible 1950 3-day Automatic Bronzo – 47mm. It is a development of the old model of Panerai over 50 years ago which was used by the Egyptian Navy commandos.

When one takes a quick look to the timepiece, he or she will feel the aged or vintage sense of the watch. This is because its material gives it a unique and personalized look. Could you guess what this watch is made of by simply looking at it? Actually, it is made of bronze, an alloy of copper and one other metal which in most cases is tin. The alloy has added with some other elements to present a particular feel. In the case of the new Luminor Submersible, the bronze applied is called CuSn8, an alloy of cooper and pure tin, which is very strong against corrosive actions caused by sea water and atmospheric elements. Besides its strong structural property, the CuSn8 also preserves the original warm shades of the material and achieves its aged appearance with the covering patina which is formed when bronze reacts with air, heat and humidity etc. With the unique cover of patina, the timepiece then shows a unique and distinctive look when one first glances at it.
The new Luminor Submersible is a professional underwater watch with a water-resistant ability to 300 metres. The bronze case, measured in 47mm, is set with a unidirectional rotating bezel which showcases ratchet clicks and a graduated scale for time calculating purpose underwater. Its winding crown is sat at three o’clock position of the case, with a characteristic bridge protecting it from water pressure and a level ensuring it water resistant under the deep water. To match with the case, it is made of bronze too.
The dial of the new Luminor Submersible displays the bar markers at 6 and 12 o’clock. This is the distinctive dial appearance for a Luminor Submersible of Panerai. Two luminous skeleton hands, pointing to the hour and the minute respectively, are well protected by the sapphire crystal face in a dark green dial. The small small seconds sub-dial is located at 9 o’clock while the date aperture is at counter 3 o’clock, to maintain a symmetrical beauty.
The movement of the underwater timepiece is the automatic P.9000 calibre, which is entirely designed and developed in Panerai’s workshop. Seen through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement features a three-dquarter plate and two spring barrels. From the name of the watch – Luminor Submersible 1950 3-day Automatic Bronzo – 47mm we could know that the masterpiece reserves power for 3 days.
Finishing off its unique and characterized look is its specially treated leather strap with a personalized titanium buckle.
